What is your current AYPO ensemble?

Music Buddies Mentor

What AYPO ensembles have you played in and for how long?

I played in Music Buddies orchestra, located at Minnie Howard, for 2 years now.

Your advice for young musicians?

Consistency beats short burst of energy a million times. Slow productivity wins. Practice just 20 minutes a day effectively is enough to beat 2 hours of intense practice twice a week.

What college/university do you plan on attending this fall?

Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State School, Computer Science.

A favorite, or memorable AYPO experience?

When my friend Martha, a bold but timid girl, realized that she has to perform first during showcase day.

What do you hope to do after graduation or your more long-term goals?

I hope to start a movement to stop global warming and restore Earth to its original beauty. I hope star in a Chinese drama one day. I hope to create my own game and start a Youtube channel.

What musician, conductor, or orchestra inspires you and why?

I am inspired by Ms. Veronica Jackson for how much she does for her students and her optimistic view of everything. She made me feel very supported during my three years with her.

Any additional memories or thoughts you would like to share?

My favorite memory was last year, when I had my friends Martha and Sara by my side, a few very mature middle schoolers, and Ms. Lewis. It made going to Music Buddies feel like home. I reminisce the times when we would cheer for each other during showcase last year, eat pizza together, and then panicking last minute practice. Seeing Martha carry her big cello always makes me giggle. You chose this instrument.
