What is your current AYPO ensemble?

AYP

What AYPO ensembles have you played in and for how long?

AYCO 18-19, AYSO 19-20 and 20-21, AYP in 21-22 and 22-23.

Your advice for young musicians?

It’s important to enjoy what you’re playing! Being able to appreciate your music makes practicing easier, and experiencing the result of your hard work much more gratifying.

What college/university do you plan on attending this fall?

College of William and Mary, Biology

A favorite, or memorable AYPO experience?

I’ll never forget the blackout during the AYP concert last year. There was definitely a moment where we wondered if it was going to last the entire piece, and a huge sigh relief when it came back on.

What do you hope to do after graduation or your more long-term goals?

Go to medical school, become a doctor, and keep playing bassoon!

What musician, conductor, or orchestra inspires you and why?

My private teacher Dr. Max Wharton has been teaching and supporting me since I first picked up the bassoon and continues to encourage me to grow as a musician. I’m so grateful for all the time (and reeds!) he’s dedicated to me.

Any additional memories or thoughts you would like to share ?

I’m very happy I was able to spend these years in AYPO, they’ve helped me improve myself and have a greater appreciation for all types of music!
